Hundreds of New York City Police Department officers could reportedly be facing criminal or disciplinary charges as part of an alleged ticket-fixing scandal.

According to the New York Post, as many as 400 officers are facing charges from all 12 precincts in the Bronx and possibly other boroughs.

The paper says police officers helped friends get out of parking tickets, moving violations or quality of life summonses by losing paperwork or missing court dates.

Police officers found guilty in department trials could be fired, lose benefits or be reprimanded and officers accused of tampering with documents or taking money could face criminal charges.
