The man charged with murdering his girlfriend inside a Meatpacking District hotel last year may contest findings that she died of strangulation and drowning.
Nicholas Brooks, 24, the son of songwriter Joseph Brooks, is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Sylvie Cachay.
Cachay, 33, was found dead inside the bathtub at SoHo House on December 9th. The medical examiner ruled the swimsuit designer’s death a homicide.
Brooks’ lawyer says he'll decide after reviewing the medical examiners' autopsy report whether or not to contest the medical examiner’s findings.
Her family says Brooks was the only one in the room when she died, but in court documents, Brooks says he left to have a few drinks.
Brooks pleaded not guilty.
He's being held without bail and faces up to life in prison if convicted.
