Mayor Michael Bloomberg's daughter was expected to undergo an MRI Monday, after she was injured falling from a horse late last week. NY1's Grace Rauh filed the following report.

Georgina Bloomberg's dad may run City Hall, but she's hardly a regular. She attended her father's inaugurations. But on any given day, the 27-year-old equestrian is more likely to be found near a stable, with her horses.

Georgina's passion for riding has left her with a number of injuries -- the latest of which came this weekend. She suffered a concussion after falling off her horse at a tournament in Syracuse, NY.

"The doctors say all her cognative skills are back," Bloomberg told reporters Monday. "A concussion is not a good thing. She has some cracks in her vertebrae but it's not clear those didn't come from the last time she broke her back."

An assignment editor at NY1's sister station in Syracuse happened to be watching a live feed of the show-jumping event on Friday. She says she saw Georgina fall after clearing a jump.

"Immediately after the horse landed, she tumbled to the ground. She laid there for about a good five minutes, on the ground, somebody caught the horse and a whole bunch of EMTs ran on the field," said YNN Syracuse assignment editor Caryn Littler.

The mayor says Georgina was scheduled to have an MRI scan on Monday.

"She promised, swore to me, or her mother did, that they would call when they got out. For all I know, they're having lunch some place," Bloomberg said.

In the 2003 documentary "Born Rich," Georgina talks about her family's wealth and riding.

The mayor himself admits that horseback riding is a dangerous sport and one that worries him. But he doesn't seem too shaken by his daughter's most recent spill. In fact, he made it clear at City Hall he thinks she's made of some pretty tough stuff.

"She's broken a leg and a foot and her back and that sort of thing," Bloomberg said.

At a football game once, the mayor says he saw his daughter trading war stories with one of the players.

"She was with this football player who weighed 300 pounds and they were comparing injuries. And he just kept looking at her. She had had more than he had," Bloomberg said.
