September 11th first responders are being given more time to decide whether to settle lawsuits over their exposure to toxic dust from the World Trade Center.

The nearly 10,000 workers involved in the suits will now have until November 8 to join or reject a settlement, which could be worth as much as $713 million.

The special insurance entity representing New York City in the litigation says the two-month extension was needed because of "unexpected logistical delays.''

It also says about half the eligible workers already opted in, although many have not yet responded.
