A Mississippi high school girl who challenged her school's ban on same-sex prom dates will be the grand marshal of New York's Gay Pride Parade.
The parade's organizers announced that Constance McMillen will appear in the parade June 27th.
McMillen's high school cancelled its prom rather than allow her to bring her girlfriend.
McMillen says she is, "honored and touched to be asked to be part of this celebration.''
The New York Pride Parade commemorates the Stonewall riots of 1969 where people in a gay bar fought back against a police raid.
