Majority Support Evaded State Senate's Gay Marriage Bill

Leading up to the New York State Senate's rejection of the Marriage Equality Act on December 2, an exclusive NY1 survey of all 62 legislators found that the bill lacked majority support.

Here is the overall breakdown of the final 24-38 vote from December 2, with 32 votes needed for a majority:

Following the November 10 announcement from the New York State Senate that they would put same-sex marriage legislation to a vote before the end of the year, an exclusive NY1 survey of all 62 legislators found that only 21 Democratic senators supported the bill.

NY1 previously polled members of the Senate in June, and found that only 20 Democratic senators supported the bill.
