Zagat editor Maureen Giannone recently visited the new OddFellows Ice Cream Co. in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and filed the following report.
Brooklyn welcomed OddFellows Ice Cream Company just in time for the summer season. Husband-wife team, Mohan & Holiday Kumar joined forces with good friend Chef Sam Mason, who's headed up some of New York's hottest kitchens - no wonder this place has already become such a hit.
Ice Cream "is a great medium for flavor," said Mason, who put his ice cream experimentation on the map during his days at WD-50.
At OddFellows everything is handmade, but it's not just cones filled with vanilla and chocolate. With twelve to fourteen different flavors served daily, few can be predicted, from Bacon Maple Pecan to Mint Chocolate Crunch. There's even a Cornbread-flavored ice cream that's not to be missed.
