It's hard to resist looking at any great travel video, but making one go viral? That takes a certain expertise. NY1's Valarie D'Elia filed this report.

To make a travel video go viral, here are a few tips.

Travel videos get designated as a staff pick three to four times a week at Vimeo.com.

"It's a wow factor that really makes you immediately want to share it and show somebody else," says Vimeo.com Director of Production Andrea Allen.

A combination of production techniques makes a video stand out, going well beyond the super popular Go Pro.

"In a normal time lapse the camera is stationary, and the movement happens all in front of the camera. In a hyperlapse, not only is there movement happening in front of the camera but the camera itself is moving. So you almost feel that you are traveling at hyper speed through space rather than just watching," Allen says. 

Tilt shift is another slick move.

"Focuses the eye on a sliver of the video content, making the top and bottom typically more blurry and what that does it actually produces an effect that makes everything in that time lapse look miniature, and it’s a really fun, interesting way to show off a country or an event," Allen says. 

Keeping the viewers’ ear buds in mind is another component that makes a travel video sing.

"Music is a very important part of any video and beyond music, in fact sound," she says."Sound effects will really help keep a viewer engaged. This could be natural sound or sound that you put into the video afterward." 

And finally, know when to wrap things up.

"When you make a video, ask yourself, how can you cut it down by one third the length? Keep your video to two minutes or less, really try," Allen says.
