A new self-guided tour that takes travelers from Broadway to the City of Brotherly Love is a real knockout. NY1's Valerie D'Elia filed the following report.

With the opening of "Rocky: The Musical" on Broadway, Philadelphia is feeling pretty pumped about a new round of publicity.

It didn't take long for Visit Philadelphia, the city's tourism agency, to capitalize on the renewed attention, promoting its Quintessential Rocky Tour, encouraging visitors to explore the city where the beloved boxer lived, loved and trained.

Nearly 40 years after the Academy Award winning film, fans will find a more modern and cosmopolitan city than back in the fictional character's day.

The self-guided tour covers sites featured in many of the "Rocky" films, including a must see visit to the Philadelphia Museum Art, running up the famous “Rocky Steps” and taking a selfie at the top -- a concept that definitely did not exist way back when.

At the bottom of the steps, don't miss the bronze Rocky statue, donated by actor Sylvester Stallone after filming for "Rocky III" completed.

Consider wearing your sneakers as you follow in Rocky's footsteps, making your way just west of the Philadelphia Museum of Art past Boathouse Row.

Don't miss Philadelphia’s iconic Italian Market, which looks much the same as it did in 1976.
Maybe the vendors will even cheer you on as they did the underdog fighter.

Hungry? Run, don't walk, to arguably the world's most famous cheesesteak sandwich at Pat's Steaks -- seen in the movie -- for a huge portion of protein. It's delicious, whether or not you're in training.

Looking for a quick visit? Amtrak is an easy day trip from Penn Station.
