If you're looking to splurge on a hotel stay in New York City this winter, you may want to up the ante with a spacious suite. NY1's Valarie D'Elia filed the following report.

The Palace Hotel's Jewel Suite by celebrity jeweler Martin Katz is a 5,000 square foot triplex, spanning floors 51 through 53 with a private elevator and spacious terrace.

Over $1 million worth of jewelry is on display in the two bedroom suite, the collection changing out seasonally. It's a certified splurge at $25,000 a night, or $1,200 an hour with check in at 3 p.m. and check out at noon.

A few blocks west you can spend less for an entire night than what you are spending  in the Jewel suite per hour.
From $25,000 a night to under $1,000 a night, welcome to the East Penthouse at the New York Hilton Midtown. This retro 4,000 square foot duplex is located on the 45th and 46th floors with floor to ceiling Midtown and Central Park views.

The historic suite has had many famous heads in its beds -- five bedrooms to be exact, that lock individually. The upstairs dressing area could be central casting for an old Hollywood movie. Maybe that’s why Lucille Ball felt right at home as a long term resident.

If it seems a bit dated, that’s part of the charm, like one quirky feature -- a secret door between the library and the kitchen.

The East Penthouse has a capacity of 150 people which makes it ideal as a cocktail party  or meeting venue where the dining room table seats 12.

The lowest rates for the East Penthouse are available in January and February, ranging between $779 to $1,399 a night.
