A city Department Of Health report looking at hearing problems and headphone use finds that people who listen to loud headphones are causing irreversible damage to their hearing.

Health officials say young adults are the most at risk.

They say one in four people aged 18 to 44 who listen at the loudest level have hearing damage.

That includes loss of hearing, ringing in the ears, or both.

DOH officials recommend limiting listening time and never listening at the highest setting.
