A New York appeals court is allowing for the sale of some emergency contraception, without a prescription or age restriction.

The ruling from the 2nd U.S. Circuit of Appeals involves the two-pill version of the morning after pill.

However, the court is still considering arguments on whether the one-pill version of the product should be sold over the counter.

In April, a lower court in Brooklyn ruled to allow the sale of the one-pill version, but the federal government appealed.

A ruling is expected later this year.
