Flu shots may soon be required for children who attend day care and preschool in the city.
The Board of Health today is expected to take up a resolution mandating the flu vaccine for children under 5 years old who are enrolled in school-based child care programs.
Children would have to prove they were vaccinated by December 31 of each year or they could be excluded from those programs.
The city says kids who have valid medical or religious reasons for not being vaccinated will be exempt from the requirement.
If the resolution passes, it would not take effect until next year.
