As Fashion Week winds down, designers Kenneth Cole and Nanette Lepore showcase their collections on the runways at Lincoln Center. NY1's Stephanie Simon filed the following report.
Get ready to upload to Instagram or post on Facebook. For fall 2014, designer Kenneth Cole is showing us what's real. Or is he?
"Everything in our lives is very dynamic right now and with the infusion of social media kind of overwhelming many of our perceptions, one asks the question, is it for real or is it for show?" says Cole.
Cole started his show of gypsy inspired designs with a hilarious short starring Alan Cumming and Rachel Dratch you'll want to put your smart phone down to watch.
"The way that I’m dressed for the runway, it’s very like New York chic, so I need more of that in my life," says Dratch.
Nanette Lepore also showed her worldly collection at Lincoln Center.
Nanette travels the globe for fall only to return to New York City to bring it all together in a streamlined collection.
"What I did this time to sort of keep it easy to wear is I started with flannel, gray flannel and camel as the base colors and then built on that to like smoky rose and deep cassis and hits of jade. So what you want to do is make it understandable and then pile on the beautiful artistic elements," says Lepore.
And the celebs at Nanette's shows are often her friends.
"I just love her as a woman, I think she's amazing," says actress Kelly Rutherford.
"I know Nanette socially so it’s fun to see what goes on when we’re not hanging out," says actress Edie Falco.
"When you put her clothes on, you’re just a woman. There’s that feminine yet sexy and, I don’t know, kind of just cool, cool you know," says actress Aida Turturro.
We know. Lepore embodies funky, flirty fun.
