Brooklyn-born comedian Joan Rivers was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital this morning after reportedly undergoing a medical procedure on the Upper East Side.
According to TMZ.com, Rivers was having vocal cord surgery done at a clinic when she stopped breathing.
The city fire department says they responded to a call at Yorkville Endoscopy and transported a patient undergoing cardiac or respiratory arrest but would not confirm the patient's identity.
In a statement, a Mount Sinai spokesman said Rivers' family "Wants to thank everybody for their outpouring of love and support."
The 81-year-old "Fashion Police" host lives in Manhattan.
