Despite an ongoing blackout following a dispute over broadcasting rights, the Campaign Finance Board has announced that Time Warner Cable will allow the three political debates being hosted by WCBS to be seen by their subscribers.

On Thursday evening, the debate between the Democratic candidates for New York City comptroller will air at 7 p.m. on WCBS.

Next Wednesday, August 28, the Republican mayoral debate will air at 7 p.m.

If necessary, a runoff debate between Democratic mayoral candidates will also air on September 23 at 7 p.m.

These debates will be the first WCBS programming on Time Warner Cable since August 2, when the cable company blacked out CBS and Showtime in eight markets across the country because of a disagreement over carriage fees.

CBS says it's offered the same deal to Time Warner Cable that it's offered to every other television provider, but Time Warner Cable says CBS wants too much money for its programming, money that would come out of the pockets of cable subscribers.

During the blackout, shows and movies from the Starz Kids and Family Channel are being seen on CBS, and the debates will only offer a brief interruption.
