Music fans are mourning the death of Phil Ramone, one of the world's most accomplished music producers.
Ramone first opened a recording studio on 48th Street in 1958.
He produced albums for artists such as Paul Simon, Billy Joel and Dionne Warwick.
During his more than 50-year career, he was nominated for 33 Grammy awards.
He won 14, including one for best surround sound album with "Genius Loves Company" by Ray Charles.
Ramone is also credited with helping to introduce digital technology to the music industry.
His family has not disclosed the cause of death.
Phil Ramone was 72 years old.
