Brooklyn's Barclays Center will play host to the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, bringing the show to a different borough for the first time.
The last time the city played host to the show was in 2009, when it was held in Radio City Music Hall in Midtown.
The news already had music fans buzzing on Monday.
"I think it's a great show. And Brooklyn is up and coming, especially with the Barclays Center. It's going to be good, I'm excited," one New Yorker said.
"You see a lot of tourists coming over here, so they're already getting the message. It's not a surprise, things are only going to get better," said another.
This year marks the 30th Annual VMAs and producers promise a big production.
The show will air live on August 25.
