NY1's weekly segment "Your Weekend Starts Now" shows entertaining picks for great things to do this weekend all around the city. NY1's Stephanie Simon filed the following report.

Ted Nash and Victor Goines at Jazz at Lincoln Center
Friday and Saturday night hear new works by two of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra's most accomplished musicians, Ted Nash and Victor Goines. Ted presents The Presidential Suite and Victor: Crescent City. Tickets start at $30.

Shen Yun at Lincoln Center
Shen Yun offers Authentic classical Chinese dance at the Koch Theater at Lincoln Center through Sunday. Tickets start at $80.

"Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead"
If "the Play's the thing" then you won't to miss Tom Stoppard's "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead" and Shakespeare's "Hamlet". These two gems are playing off-Broadway in rotation at The Pearl Theatre Company on West 42nd Street now through February 1. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are of course bit players in Hamlet but in Stoppards's work the story is told from their point of view. Tickets start at $35.

Dolly Parton tribute at Joe's Pub
Friday night Addie Brownlee brings her tribute to Dolly Parton to Joe's Pub. Tickets are $14.

Christopher Wool at the Guggenheim
It's the final weeks of American artist Christopher Wool's retrospective at the Guggenheim. See the evolution of his work now through January 22.

M. Tony Peralta's "Reconnected"
It's also your last chance to see new artwork M. Tony Peralta infused with his Dominican heritage. His exhibit "Reconnected" is at Renaissance Fine Art in Harlem through this Saturday.

Robert Mapplethorpe Photo Exhibit
Sean Kelly Gallery at 10th Avenue and 36th Street features 27 pairings of photographer Robert Mapplethorpe's iconic images now through the 25th.

Ensemble, et al Album Release Party
The Brooklyn-based percussion group Ensemble, et al has its CD release party this Saturday night at Spectrum on Ludlow Street. Tickets are $15.

Friends in Theater Company Presents "Once On This Island"
One night only, Friends in Theater Company present "Once On This Island" as its annual fundraising show. The musical is a Caribbean take on the classic fairy tale "The Little Mermaid."
