Punk: Chaos to Couture
Metropolitan Museum of Art, 1000 Fifth Avenue, Manhattan
So you didn't score tickets to the Met's Spring Ball? Don't worry, because you can still see the exhibit that inspired it all. The Costume Institute's new show "Punk: Chaos to Couture"opens Thursday. This must-see exhibit recognizes the impact that the punk music scene has had on high fashion.
Patti Labelle at the Lehman Center
Lehman Center, 250 Bedford Park Blvd, West Bronx
You don’t need to travel over the rainbow to see Pattie Labelle perform, just head over to the Lehman Center in the Bronx this Saturday for its Spring Gala benefiting The Montefiore Children's Hospital. The legendary Labelle headlines the concert. Tickets start at $100.
Frieze Art Fair
The Frieze Art Fair is back on Randall's Island Friday through Monday. This London import includes more than 180 contemporary art galleries from around the world. Tickets start at $26.
John James Audubon
Arader Galleries, 29 East 72nd St
If you fell in love with the Audubon exhibit at The NY Historical Society you might want to head over to Arader Galleries on 29 East 72nd Street to check out naturalist artworks by John James Audubon, and maybe even go Saturday, when the works go up for auction.
“Cirque Le Jazz” at Galapagos Art Space
This weekend check out one of the coolest small circus acts. 2 Ring Circus presents “Cirque Le Jazz” at Galapagos Art Space. This production is the perfect fusion of circus arts, musical theatre, and Vaudeville. Performances take place on Saturday and Sunday, and tickets start $10.
Klughaus New York, 154 Stanton St
Also this weekend, come see a special pop-up exhibit organized by the Klughaus Galleries on the Lower East side at 154 Stanton St, at Suffolk Street. It's a showcase of some of the top graffiti artists in the world. The opening reception is on Saturday night. It runs through May 19.
Rodgers and Hart’s "On Your Toes"
All weekend long you can catch the exciting performance of Rodgers and Hart’s "On Your Toes", the final Encores! Presentation of the season. The series celebrates the rarely heard works of America’s most important composers and lyricists. With only a total of nine rehearsals before performances, each production is sure to be a whirlwind. Tickets start at $25.
Socrates Sculpture Park and The Noguchi Museum team up this Saturday for the annual Kite extravaganza at Socrates Sculpture Park. Build, decorate, and fly kites beside a wonderful view of the skyline. Also, Miguel Luciano will lead a kite making workshop on Caribbean Kite traditions. Participation is free.

The Bowery Electric, 327 Bowery (at Second Street)
Sunday, head over to The Bowery Electric at 327 Bowery and 2nd for a great performance by Mariko Morimoto, starting at 6 p.m. The talented musician and others will be performing to help raise funds for earthquake and tsunami relief in Japan.
