NY1's weekly segment "Your Weekend Starts Now" shows entertaining picks for great things to do this weekend all around the city. NY1's Stephanie Simon filed the following report.

Shadow Puppet Troupe

No need to pull any strings to see this magical puppet show. It's a free performance of Cambodia's premiere Shadow Puppet Troupe, Wat Bo, tonight through Sunday at 8 p.m. at the World Financial Center's Wintergarden. This is the centerpiece of the citywide "Season of Cambodia" arts festival.

Ashley Allen at Highline Ballroom

Taking the subway is optional but do get to the Highline Ballroom this Friday night at 7:30 p.m. to see New York City singer/songwriter Ashley Allen. She's opening for Chris Wallace. It's a fun night. Tickets start at $12.

Ballet Hispanico

Ballet Hispanico celebrates its 25th season at the Joyce Theater. Come see an amazing array of dance styles on one stage. Now through Sunday. Tickets start at $10.

Royal Shakespeare Company at BAM

At BAM the Royal Shakespeare Company will perform Julius Caesar with a new twist. It features an all black cast with live West African Music. Now through Sunday. Tickets start at $25.

Duke Ellington Tribute at Jazz at Lincoln Center

Celebrate Duke Ellington's 114th birthday. Tonight come early to Jazz at Lincoln Center for pre-concert festivities and at 8 p.m. hear Wynton Marsalis and the JALC orchestra play the swinging sounds of Duke in the Rose Theater. Tickets start at $30. There is also more of Ellington's music in the Allen room.

Duke Ellington Tribute Concert
Continue the celebration Sunday from 1 - 3 p.m. with a free concert at the Duke Ellington Statue at Fifth Avenue and 110 Street. The event is hosted by granddaughter Mercedes Ellington.

"Grease" Sing-A-Long

Saturday night join the T-Birds and Pink Ladies at the St. George Theater on Staten Island. Sing-a-long to the original movie "Grease". There will also be a dress competition.Tickets are $22.

"El Maestro" Tribute

Check out salsa singer Tony Vega and with Willy Rosario as a special guest. The performance is a tribute to “El Maestro” and will feature various performances by different artists at the Lehman Center on Saturday. Tickets start at $30.

Barbara Cook at 54 Below

Check out Tony Award winning Barbara Cook perform at 54 Below. Known for her soprano voice will come back to stage this weekend. Tickets start at $65.

New York Pops 30th Anniversary Gala
