NY1 highlights the coolest and newest apps for your cell phone or mobile device in the twice-weekly segment "App Wrap." NY1's Adam Balkin filed the following report.

Hyperlapse
There are lots of them—lots and lot and lots of mobile apps designed to give you camera options aside from what your phone has prepackaged. There are two new ones that are starting to generate some buzz, though. The first, courtesy of the folks who, arguably, started this whole movement: Instagram. Its new stand-along video app, Hyperlapse, is very simple to understand and use. Just one button, hit record and let it roll for a while. Why a while? Well, the app allows you to adjust the speed afterwards in order to create a time lapse video which you can then share around. It might not seem like a big deal, but what’s exciting so many people about this one, developers have been able to seize on your phone’s accelerometer and create software that enables even the shakiest of hands in the shakiest of situations to produce very professional, steady looking video. Hyperlapse is a free app, at the moment just for iOS devices.

Camu
Camu is a new photo app that, like so many others, lets you change filters on the fly. Swipe left and right to wipe them in, scroll up and down to dial in the intensity. You can also make collages on the go. Perhaps the best feature of this one though is the "selfie" timer. You set it and then once in front of the camera wave your arms, make some sort of movement until you and everyone in your shot is ready. When set, simply stay still and only then will the shutter fire. Camu is also a free app, and also, at the moment only for iOS devices.
