Lookout's Theft Alert
Lookout is mobile security software that’s been out for a while, offering privacy features, finding your lost phone, protecting you from malware and backing up your data. Just recently, though, it added a neat new feature called Theft Alert: if it detects some strange actions—which you can set yourself, like the SIM card being removed or entering the wrong password a few times or trying to change certain settings—the phone will automatically snap a picture with the inward facing camera, in an effort to catch the thief’s image. It will then email you that shot and a GPS map of where, exactly, that picture was taken. Lookout is available for iOS and Android devices as a free app with certain features or $3 per month for the full premium service which you will need to use Theft Alert.
