NY1 highlights the coolest and newest apps for your cell phone or mobile device in the twice-weekly segment "App Wrap." NY1's Adam Balkin filed the following report.

TWC News

Watching NY1 can now be done easily on a device instead of on a television. Using our channel's new Time Warner Cable News app – all in one spot now – TWC TV subscribers can get the latest news, watch clips of stories and yes, even watch a live stream of the channel.

And while none of the video features is available to non-customers, everyone can get text of the latest news, sports, weather, etc. Everyone is also encouraged to use the report news section where you can submit news tips via text and/or pictures and/or video.

TWC News, which incidentally replaces our stations previous app, is a free download for iOS and Android devices.

And Umoove is best described as an experience which helps give users a glimpse into how using a mobile device may work in the future, at least in part, using just your head, no hands.

It first calibrates to make sure it sees the user properly and then allows the user to fly and navigate their way around this world picking up these glowing bottles by simply moving their head left, right, up, and down.

Players can use their hands if they'd like to speed up. Again the app is just designed as a demonstration right now, developers have put it out there really for app developers who are interested in maybe incorporating this technology into future creations. Umoove is a free app for iOS devices. ClientIP:,, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
