NY1 highlights the coolest and newest apps for your cell phone or mobile device in the twice-weekly segment "App Wrap." NY1's Adam Balkin filed the following report.

Bing Translator

There are lots of apps now for helping you translate foreign languages on the fly, most notably Google with its translate. Well, now there's a new way for those of you with Windows 8 devices to those things with one notable bonus, and one notable exception.

First, the good news: Bing Translator allows you to type in what you'd like to translate and see it in one of more than 40 languages, and yes, even Klingon is in there. That notable bonus, though? Kind of like the stand-alone app WordLens does, point your Windows device at a sign or some word,s and the app will recognize what it sees and overlay onto your screen a translation.

The downside with the app, though, is that at the moment, those are the two ways to use it. You can type and shoot, but you cannot speak to the app and have your voice translated as other similar apps can do.

Bing Translator is a free app for Windows devices.

Score! World Goals

If, while traveling abroad, you've found a new love for the so-called "World's Game," soccer, or especially if you've been a fan all along, Score! World Goals is an interesting concept that any sports fan can likely appreciate.

For years now. sporting video games have allowed you to play in historic, classic matches so you can try to recreate the outcome. With this app. though. you actually recreate specific goals that true fans of the sport will likely remember.

It comes unlocked with four decades of international goals. It sets up the scenario, shows you the path the ball must take, and then you have to draw and recreate it. Sometimes, you have to make a pass and then take the shot. Sounds simple. but it all has to be very precise to work. Plus, as you advance, you'll also have to nail precision and power.

Score! World Goals is a free app for iOS devices, though, to unlock some other packs like European club goals or other internationals - there are more than 300 goals in total to be scored - you will have to buy them with virtual credits, which you can either earn in the game or pay for via in-app purchases.
