NY1 highlights the coolest and newest apps for your cellphone or mobile device in the twice-weekly segment "App Wrap." NY1’s Adam Balkin filed the following report.
Pinball is alive and well in the year 2013, as ePinball game creators at Zen Studios have two new innovative titles just released. The first game, "Star Wars Pinball," allows users to smack the ball around and hit different targets to trigger various lighting and sound effects. Its digital side has some triggers send virtual characters from the legendary movie series walking or fighting across the screen.
"Star Wars Pinball" is for iOS and Android devices and is a free app to download. The free app comes with one of the three available tables unlocked, the "Empire Strikes Back" table. There is also a "Clone Wars" and "Boba Fett" table, and each one costs $1.99.
"Zen Pinball 2" is available on a few devices, but the WiiU version takes on an interesting twist. The WiiU tablet gives users some added control and can change up the view of the table. The title has a whole slew of themes to choose from, including many based on Marvel superheroes, "Plants vs. Zombies" table and a Civil War table.
What will strike pinball enthusiasts about both these games is how well they look from an appearance standpoint, and from a physics standpoint the ball seems to move very accurately.
"Zen Pinball 2" is free for the WiiU, PS3, PS Vita, iOS and Android devices. Users can try all the tables but to fully unlock them they will have to shell out between $3 to $10, depending on the pack of tables they want.
