Time Warner Cable is confirming what had been widely speculated in the TV industry.

NY1's parent company announced Thursday that long time chairman and Chief Executive Officer Glenn Britt is stepping down at the end of the year.

Britt is a 40-year veteran of the industry and took over as CEO in 2001.

Rob Marcus, the company's president and chief operating officer, will succeed Britt on January 1.
