1959...Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev, in the midst of an unprecedented 13-day visit to New York City, gets stuck in an elevator at the Waldorf Astoria. He calls the mishap a "capitalist malfunction."

1995...The body of a female jogger is found in the northern section of Central Park, not far from where Trisha Meili, known as the Central Park Jogger, was attacked in 1989. Tests show that the woman, Maria Alves, had been bludgeoned and raped. Later her mother comes from Brazil to take her body home. The case remains unsolved to this day.
