1969...The Landmarks Preservation Commission rejects plans for the construction of a skyscraper above Grand Central Terminal.
1971...The football Giants sack New York by announcing that they will leave Yankee Stadium to play in a newly-constructed home in the New Jersey Meadowlands complex. The move is completed at the start of the 1976 season.
