1662...A new law in the colony of New Amsterdam outlaws all religions except the Dutch Reformed Church.
1776...Trinity Church on Wall Street is destroyed when a great fire sweeps through colonial Manhattan, leaving a quarter of the city in ruins. The British suspect arson, but the cause of the fire is never determined.
