The city's Rapid Repairs program, designed to help those with physical damage to their homes from Hurricane Sandy, has come under fire from some NY1 viewers for poor service and long wait times. NY1's Susan Jhun filed the following report.

New York City said that as of this week, Rapid Repairs has completed work on more than 11,000 buildings, which include more than 18,000 residences. A spokesman told NY1 that the work is about 98 percent complete.

However, NY1 has been hearing from viewers who say they've registered with Rapid Repairs but have yet to get a response.

Geraldine from Breezy Point wrote: "The whole program is a joke. Now we are told keep calling all day, every day. Still waiting in Breezy Point for the non-Rapid Repair 'free service'."

Roseann from Staten Island wrote: "I registered with Rapid Repairs for new furnace ducts and a hot water heater. I signed papers on November 10. No such items as of yet have come. Many of us Islanders are waiting for a miracle to happen. Are they for real? Should I continue to wait?"

A spokesman for Housing Recovery operations told NY1 that they are finishing up, but they will resolve any lingering issues with Rapid Repairs work. He went on to say that letters were recently sent to all registrants, letting them know the program is winding down but encouraging them to contact Rapid Repairs if they have any issues with existing work.
