The city followed up and took action against a massive tree toppled by Hurricane Sandy first brought to attention by NY1 For You.

The fallen tree was blocking a private drive in East Elmhurst, leaving residents out in the cold for nearly two months.

The lack of clearance under the tree prevented an oil truck from getting through to make deliveries, meaning no heat for homes in the area.

Tenants contacted the city and tried to reach the owner of the property the tree fell from, but received no response from either.

Soon after the NY1 story aired, the city's Office of Emergency Management contacted NY1 to find its exact location.

NY1 then heard from residents who said they were thrilled to find the tree gone.
