One local consumer group is offering some guidance on where to donate to make the most impact this holiday season for those who want to help those still suffering from Sandy. NY1's Susan Jhun has the story.

The holidays are a time of giving and in the wake of Hurricane Sandy there are so many in need.

"A lot of people would like to donate but they're not quite sure where," said Claire Rosenzweig, president and CEO of the Better Business Bureau of Metro New York.

To help you choose a credible charity, one where your time and money can make the most impact, the Rosenzweig's group has put together a list of pre-screened charities for Sandy storm recovery on its website.

"One hundred and twenty five of our accredited charities are listed on that site," Rosenzweig said. "These are charities that have met the 20 standards of charity accountability of the BBB and they are doing work specifically with Sandy recovery."

You can search for Sandy related charities by different categories of giving.

"Whether it's food and shelter, whether it's clothing, whether it's charities that are doing work on behalf of animals that suffered because of Sandy -- somebody can go on that website and find them pretty easily," Rosenzweig said.
