A judge will decide next week whether to release a list of Merrill Lynch employees who received bonuses, just before the firm was sold.

Attorney General Andrew Cuomo has asked for the paperwork as he investigates why the troubled financial firm doled out $3.6 billion to 200 of its highest paid employees.

Merrill Lynch was purchased by Bank of America and Cuomo says the information should be revealed, since the bank has received federal funding in recent months.

Lawyers for Bank of America say they'll reveal the amount of the bonuses but they want the workers' names kept private.

The judge has previously suggested he was unlikely to order confidentiality merely to save those workers from public shame.
