The latest New Yorker of the Week manages 10 successful businesses but says his biggest success has been his management of a scholarship foundation. NY1's John Schiumo filed the following report.

New York University sophomore Quemuel Arroyo is one of almost 100 physically disabled kids from low-income communities who have received scholarships due to Andrew Fox, the president of the New York chapter of the Chair Scholars Foundation.

"You could have some piece of mind and not worry so much about the money aspect," says Arroyo, who has a yearly scholarship of $10,000. "We talk a lot about college. When I was doubtful, when I didn't really know what I wanted, he was there rooting for me, pushing for me."

Fox started the New York chapter 12 years ago, after he met a boy who was paralyzed because of a gunshot wound. He didn't have much money at the time but called friends to help raise funds to send him to college.

Now, Fox is able to provide scholarships for two dozen students, ranging from $3,000 to $10,000 a year, and he still calls on his friends to donate.

"Education to me is so important that if I feel like I can provide a child the opportunity to better himself through getting a college education, then that person is going to contribute to society substantially," says Fox.

Arroyo became a paraplegic after a bike accident three years ago. He says Fox has mentored him through the challenges of school.

"He takes his time out of his really busy schedule to do this for people like me who are just out here trying to do it on their own," says Arroyo. "Andrew comes out and gives a helping hand."

"Quemuel is going to graduate from NYU and he is going to be a successful young man and he's the exact kind of kid who I want on my board of trustees," says Fox. "And [he's] who I want helping me discovering other kids like him."

Fox says he hopes to help 10,000 students kids go to college.

"Most of these kids, it would amaze you how resilient they are given their circumstances, and so all I am doing is adding a little bit of sugar to a really good story," says Fox.

So, for helping kids start a new chapter in their lives, Andrew Fox is our New Yorker of the Week.
