Getting kids to and from school during the bus strike will now cost some families less.

Parents who accompany their children to school complained they were only getting reimbursed for cab rides when the kids were in the taxi.

Now, if parents can prove financial hardship or transportation problems, the Department of Education says it will reimburse adults for their solo cab rides back home in the morning, as well as the trip back to school in the afternoon.

This also applies to families that have cars and claim their mileage.

The DOE says families should expect it to take about two weeks to process the reimbursement requests.
