DOE Begins Accepting Kindergarten Applications

The New York City Department of Education is now accepting kindergarten applications for the 2013-2014 school year.
If your child turns five before December 31, then you need to fill out an application.
For the first time, some parents will be able to apply online.
The option is only available to families in District 1 in Manhattan, District 7 in the Bronx and District 23 in Brooklyn.
It's part of a pilot program in districts where students are not assigned to a zoned school.
