Several schools forced to be relocated by Sandy are expected to reopen in their regular buildings Tuesday, according to the New York City Department of Education.

P.S. 215 Lucretia Mott, Wave Preparatory Elementary School, P.S. 197 The Ocean School, Frederick Douglass Academy VI High School, Knowledge and Power Preparatory Academy VI, Queens High School for Information, Research, and Technology and Academy of Medical Technology: A College Board School will open after the DOE says it installed emergency generators. All of those schools are in Queens, and the Long Island Power Authority, which supplies those schools, has not returned power to them, according to the DOE.

The DOE says that P.S. 106, also in Queens, will also reopen Tuesday after switches were repaired and power was restored.

P.S. 253 in Brooklyn will reopen Tuesday after a temporary boiler was installed and power was restored, while Bard High School Early College in Manhattan will reopen after its flooded boiler room was drained and cleaned up, according to the DOE.

The DOE says New York Harbor School on Governors Island reopened Friday after power and gas were restored to Governors Island, as was ferry service. Water tanks were also refilled and cleaned, according to the DOE.

The DOE says that 42 schools will still be relocated next week, down from the 56 that were relocated earlier this week and the 79 that were initially expected to be relocated last weekend.

In addition, the DOE says it will begin to provide shuttle buses for all relocated students in kindergarten through eighth grade starting Tuesday. They say that parents can check the DOE website at schools.ny1.gov for more information.

The DOE says that 89.1 percent of city students attended school Friday, but only 36.9 percent of relocated students attended schools.
