PS 59 and the High School of Art and Design cut the ribbon on their brand-new Manhattan campus Friday.

The schools will each share 300,000 square feet of space in their new Midtown facility on East 57th Street, the largest in the city's school system.

It comes at no expense to taxpayers thanks to a partnership with a private developer.

Schools Chancellor Dennis Walcott said the mixed-use building will serve thousands of students for years to come.

"People had a very vivid dream of what they wanted here, and I think that dream was met," Walcott said. "And it came on time, as a matter of fact, early and under budget."

The "green" facility also meets the city's standards for environmentally-friendly construction and operations.
