College Board: More City Students Are Taking AP, SAT Exams

A College Board report finds more city students are taking Advanced Placement and SAT exams.

Participation in AP tests increased more than 9 percent in 2012 from last year.

There was a 2.3 percent increase in the number of students taking the SAT exam for the same time period.

Both statistics outpace the national average.

City SAT participation increased 13.7 percent since 2007.

Math scores increased by 1 point, while scores dropped 1 point in writing and 2 points in reading.
