Report: Stuy High Student Snapped Pictures Of Test

The city Department of Education says an investigation is underway after a student at one of the city's most prestigious high schools was caught allegedly copying an exam.
According to the Daily News, a junior at the school was caught taking pictures of the citywide Spanish exam with his cellphone last week and giving the answers to fellow students.
The paper says a proctor who saw the boy and became suspicious checked his phone and found he also had pictures of the physics and English Regents exams.
Dozens of students may have benefited from the cheating but the News says those students have not been disciplined.
"They could be suspended, they may have to take the Regents over. It's my understanding that these are 11th graders so it doesn't impact their graduation but again we'll get all the facts and see what's going on," said Schools Chancellor Dennis Walcott.
At least one student who spoke with NY1 says they can understand the temptation to cheat.
"Your parents and the administration and the other students expect you to do really well and a lot of people can't get past that without some outside help," said Stuyvesant High sophomore Zane Sterling.
The city banned students from using cell phones in schools several years ago, in part to prevent this type of cheating. Students who spoke with NY1 say teachers don't always enforce it but that they have noticed more of a crackdown during test times.
The DOE says the student involved in the alleged cheating incident has not been expelled and are working with the school on the correct disciplinary action.
