The New York Police Department said yesterday that two of its officers have been placed on desk duty as its internal affairs division investigates allegations that a city policeman raped a woman in Manhattan's East Village.

The NYPD is looking into a claim that a woman who was escorted home on December 7th after a disagreement with a cab driver, was attacked.

The woman told the Manhattan district attorney that one officer raped her while his partner stood by. The officers have not been identified.

A surveillance video from the woman's apartment building in the East Village reportedly shows the officers escorting her inside and then returning to the building more than a half hour later.

The officers have been stripped of their badges and guns while the investigation continues.
