More Alleged Secret Tapes Of NYPD Inspector Played At Stop-And-Frisk Trial

Another police officer's secret recordings took center stage in the trial over the NYPD's stop, question and frisk policy Thursday.
The court listened to tapes recorded by Officer Pedro Serrano.
The officer said the tapes are of a discussion between him and an inspector.
When the issue of stop-and-frisks is discussed in one of the alleged recordings, the inspector references Mott Haven, and black teenagers, as where officers should focus their attention.
Inspector: "This is about stopping the right people, the right place, the right location."
Officer: "OK."
Inspector: "Again, take Mott Haven, where we had the most problems. And the most problems we had was robberies and grand larcenies."
Officer: "And who are these people robbing?"
Inspector: "The problem was what? Male blacks, and I told you that at roll call, and I have no problem telling you this. Male blacks 14 to 20, 21. I said this at roll call."
Officer: "So what am I supposed to do? Male blacks 14 to 20 wearing dark clothing. What do you want me to do, specifically?"
Inspector: "Dark clothing? Who said that?"
Officer: "What do you want me to do?"
Plaintiffs are suing the city, saying officers unfairly target minorities.
The NYPD maintains officers only stop, question and frisk people when there is suspicion of illegal activity.
