A Brooklyn man who prosecutors now say was framed for the murder of a rabbi in 1990 is expected to get out of prison.

District Attorney Charles Hynes asked a judge to free David Ranta.

Ranta was convicted of killing Chaskel Werzberger, an Auschwitz survivor in February 1990.

The Satmar rabbi died four days after he was shot in the head.

The Brooklyn DA now says that the lead detectives on the case instructed witnesses to identify Ranta in lineups and that there was never any physical evidence connecting him to the crime.

Ranta is expected to be freed Thursday afternoon.
