A police officer who survived a stab wound to the head was promoted Friday by the New York City Police Department.
Detective Eder Loor received a standing ovation as he received his citation from NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly.
Loor was hurt last year when a suspect plunged a knife into his temple.
The blade fractured his skull and narrowly missed major arteries in his brain.
Commissioner Kelly said Loor is continuing his recovery.
