The New York City Police Department pulled 113 illegal firearms off the street Saturday at another gun buyback event in Brooklyn.

People handed in weapons, no questions asked, at the Church of the Open Door on Gold Street in DUMBO.

The Brooklyn district attorney's office says of the 113 weapons turned in at the event, 56 were revolvers, 34 were semi-automatic pistols, eight were rifles, and three were shotguns, according to police. An assault rifle and 11 other weapons were also turned in.

Bank cards worth $200 were given in exchange for working handguns and assault rifles, while $20 cards were handed out for rifles and shotguns.

Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes said that having programs like this in a church was "a breakthrough."

"Folks feel a lot more comfortable coming to a church," he said. "Having a collaboration with these, with the churches means so much for the public safety needs of the people of Brooklyn."

More than 8,000 weapons have been collected since the program was launched.
