Police have linked an eighth mugging to a suspect believed to be targeting New Yorkers of Chinese descent in East Harlem and the Upper East Side.
The latest incident happened at 10:30 a.m. Saturday by East 97th Street, according to police.
Police say the 57-year-old victim suffered a broken nose and that his cellphone and wallet were taken.
The attack took place in an elevator, as did the other seven attacks in question.
Ally Hall, a resident of the building where the Saturday attack took place, told NY1, "I know a man was beaten up this morning at 10 in the morning. He was beaten up really badly, my elevator was full of blood. We couldn't take the elevator all day."
Investigators say the robber follows his victims into the elevator before attacking and robbing them in East Harlem and the Upper East Side.
All the victims were treated for facial injuries.
Community leaders gathered in East Harlem on Saturday to urge their neighbors to help find the suspect. Officers who know Mandarin and Cantonese were assigned to the neighborhood to help with community outreach.
"This a strong message and a united message that we will not tolerate violence against any one of our neighbors," said City Councilwoman Melissa Mark-Viverito of Manhattan and the Bronx.
"It takes everybody and everybody's cooperation and a watchful eye to make sure that everybody in every community -- we as New Yorkers need to take care of each other," said Eilene Yamaguchi of the Japanese American Citizens League.
The robber, said to be the man in the above photo, is said to be 25 to 35 years old, about 6-feet tall and between 200 and 240 pounds.
The first incident took place on January 17.
