A search is under way after a suspect wanted in connection with the 2010 death of another man escaped a Brooklyn station house while in custody early this morning.
The New York City Police Department says Brandon Santana was being held at the 78th precinct in Park Slope when he managed to run off at around 2 a.m., injuring an officer in the process.
The officer is being treated at Methodist Hospital for minor injuries.
Santana was arrested Wednesday in the 2010 death of Alexander Santiago.
It's unclear how he was able to leave the station.
Anyone with information on Santana's whereabouts should contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS, or text CRIMES and then enter TIP577, or visit www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
