Report: Stops As Part Of NYPD Stop-And-Frisk Program Down 30 Percent

A new report shows the number of people stopped as part of the New York City Police Department's stop-and-frisk program has declined.
A New York Civil Liberties Union analysis of police data released Thursday showed street stops went down by 30 percent.
The NYCLU said that while the numbers are an improvement, the program continues to have what they say is a 90 percent failure rate.
According to the report, during the first nine months of the year, police stopped innocent New Yorkers nearly 400,000 times, down from the same period last year.
They say the overwhelming majority of those stopped were black or Latino.
NY1 has reached out to the NYPD for comment on the report but has not yet heard back.
