The family of Reynaldo Cuevas, a Bronx bodega worker who was shot and killed by police during a robbery last week, met with Bronx District Attorney Robert Johnson on Sunday to demand a full investigation into Cuevas' death.

Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said the 20-year-old worker escaped three robbers in the Morrisania bodega on Friday, when he ran into a uniformed officer.

Security video shows the uniformed officer, his gun drawn, positioned outside the front door.

Investigators say Cuevas ran into the officer and the impact apparently caused the officer's gun to go off.

While the police commissioner says the shooting was accidental, Cuevas' family says the surveillance video shows a different story.

"He shouldn't have died like that, the way he died. He was doing his job, you know? It wasn't like he was on the streets, he was working," said Alcibiades Cuevas, Reynaldo's older brother. "He went to get help and the help he sought killed him."

"Accidents happen because we're human. We all understand that. But to drag a body on the sidewalk is unacceptable," said Bodega Association spokesman Fernando Mateo.

The three alleged robbers -- 17-year-old Christopher Dorsey, 28-year-old Ernesto Delgado and 32-year-old Orlando Ramos -- were arraigned on murder, robbery, and weapons possession charges and remained behind bars on Sunday.

Police say one of the robbers hit the bodega manager with an unloaded .32 caliber gun, which was found in the store.

The Cuevas family and Mateo said they were satisfied with what Johnson said on Sunday, but the district attorney would not offer a timeline for the investigation.

Cuevas' mother, who is said to suffer from high blood pressure, fainted during a resulting press conference. She was promptly hospitalized.

The Bronx DA's office would not give family members a timeline for a completion of the investigation.

The three suspects are due back in court on Thursday.
